🍎What is nutritional consultation/advice?

🔶Nutritional consultation/advice is based on the philosophy of maintaining a deep respect for nature, with a thorough understanding of science and body chemistry.

🔶Our natural state is to be well and healthy that is why the body is designed to heal itself and goes to extraordinary lengths to fight and resist disease. However, modern life can literally eat away at our defences and undermine our health. It is becoming more and more difficult to get the critical nutrients we need from the food we eat. At the same time, each of us is unique, with different nutritional requirements. What is right for Paul is not necessarily right for Paula or Paulo or Paulette. The concept of Optimum Nutrition recognizes these facts. It is as much about what we need to eat as what we shouldn't eat. It is about balancing our bodies, eating foods that are rich in essential nutrients and ensuring we obtain the right nutrients, where we need to redress the balance

🔶I offer a one-to-one consultation to the client of approximately one hour and a quarter, with follow-ups as appropriate. During the consultation a detailed assessment is made of nutritional status, health history, current lifestyle, major stresses, and other factors which may be influencing the patient's health. The patient may also be requested to undertake biochemical tests, if these are deemed necessary, to enhance the management of any revealed condition.

🔶I aim at my clinic to help my clients achieve their full potential by designing a nutritional programme that is specifically tailored to their needs, one that is realistic and can fit into their lifestyle, taking into consideration the time they have available and what they enjoy eating. I also provide menus for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals for several days to make it as easy as possible for the suggested diet to be put into practice.

🔶The planned diet helps to rebalance the system, as food is a powerful healer and the body has an amazing ability to repair itself. Sometimes the programme may involve excluding certain foods to assess whether certain food intolerances and allergies may be the cause of some of the symptoms. Some programmes also include a well-balanced supplement programme and include advice about when to take the supplements and how long to take them for.

🔶Bacterial and parasitic infections

🔶Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition, described as a functional disorder and the cause is unknown, although onset can be traced to infections of the GI tract, overgrowth of fungus (Candida overgrowth, imbalance of good bacteria) or periods of stress; IBS symptoms are frequently seen to increase during periods of stress and anxiety. Although the medical approach to the condition focuses on symptom relief, but following a good nutritional plan by cutting out foods which reduce Candida and increasing foods that help to reflourish gut microbiome, and addressing stress levels helps IBS dramatically..

🔶Endometriosis

🔶Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition that occurs when endometrial tissue grows outside of the womb (where it is supposed to be), causing symptoms such as heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, painful bowel movement, fatigue and low resistance to infections. Correcting diet and avoiding certain foods can help to reduce inflammation in the body, thereby preventing excess estrogens production, and helping to heal endometriosis.
