☯️Acupuncture

☯️Acupuncture is a complex branch of ancient Chinese Medicine, but its practical principles and methods are easily understood:

☯️Fourteen major energy channels called meridians course through the human body including the head, arms, hands, legs, feet, torso and internal organs.

☯️A subtle energy called qi, or chi, circulates via the meridians to all parts of the body, even the most remote cells. Qi is the vital force, the presence of which separates the living from the dead. Its balanced, unimpeded flow is critical to sound health. Any blockage, or imbalance of qi may result in pain, dysfunction, and ill health.

☯️The Eastern cultures have been using acupuncture to restore, promote and maintain good health for thousands of years. More and more people are finding this long-established therapy to be an effective solution to many illnesses.

☯️What are the three main objectives of acupuncture treatment?

* to relieve pain and other symptoms

* to strengthen the immune system

* to balance, harmonise, and integrate functions of the organs with each other, making for a unified healthy person.

How Acupuncture Is Performed

An initial acupuncture session usually lasts 1 hour to 1 hour and quarter and involves an assessment of your general health, medical history and a physical examination, followed by insertion of the acupuncture needles.

Courses of treatment often involve several separate sessions, but this can vary.

Insertion Of The Needles

The needles are inserted into specific places on the body, which are called acupuncture points. During the session, you'll usually be asked to sit or lie down. You may also be asked to wear warm comfortable loose clothing so that access to the acupuncture points is easier.

The needles used are very fine and are usually a few millimetres to centimetres long. They are single-use, pre-sterilised needles and disposed of immediately after use.

☯️Certain specific acupuncture points are chosen for the needles to be placed, depending on your condition. Several points may be used during a typical session, depending on the number of symptoms you have. The needles may be inserted just under the skin, or deeper so they reach muscle. Once the needles are in place, they may be left in position for a length of time lasting from a 18 minutes up to around 30 minutes. You may feel nothing or a tingling or a dull ache when the needles are inserted but you should not experience any significant pain.
